It’s been a wild ride y’all, but I think I’m finally getting back to normal. After having surgery, I found that I just needed some time to try to think in complete sentences. So, I took about 10 days away from the blog. To be honest, I’ve missed y’all! My husband even asked tonight how everyone in the blog family is doing. Praise God, I think I can put together some somewhat intelligent sentences, and I have much on my heart, so shall we jump right in?
Come just as you are. Do you know the song?
Today, as I lay in bed in my mismatched jammies, with my mini piggy tail atop my head, I kept hearing this song over and over. Come just as you are…come and see…come and live forever. What does that really mean? I get that God loves me no matter what, yet coming before him in need of a shower and looking like I’ve slept in my clothes for days…can I really go in front of Him like that? Have you ever thought about it that way? Coming to the Savior at in our physical bodies means that we come before Him in prayer, in spirit, in heart, and in mind. God doesn’t care in what condition our physical body is found. He wants the very core of our being. He doesn’t want you or me to wait until we are well groomed, and in my case, smelling better. No dear sister! He wants you…me…us in whatever condition. He’s not just talking about that spiritual condition either. He wants us beaten, torn, bruised, damaged, broken, ugly, dirty, and stinky just as much as He desires us clean and pretty.
Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-29, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Dear sister, Jesus says if you are beaten down, heavy and worn, He wants you! What’s even better is when we are in that condition either physically, emotionally or spiritually, He calls us to Him. He promises us that He will give us rest. That rest He is promising isn’t a soft bed and then kicking us back to the lions y’all. It’s His broad shoulders upon which we can cry. It’s His strong arms that He will wrap around us when we can’t stand to take another step. His is loving touch, and sweet gentle warmth provided we are convinced life can’t get much worse. Or what about when we think we can’t do life at all anymore. It’s those moments especially when Jesus calls to us…come.
His call for us to come doesn’t say, “y’all get cleaned up and put on your best clothes and then I will help you.” No dear Sister! He says come just as you are. His spirit is calling to your spirit. Come and He will give you rest. Come and He will heal that heart. Come, and He will carry your burdens. Now that’s a promise I wouldn’t ever want to miss out on.
Dear sweet Sister, are you tired, worn, heavy laden, and lowly in heart? Are you wondering how in the world you are going to get through this challenge that seems impossible? Simply heed the call from our Father. Go to Him, and He will give you rest. Go to Him, and lay your burdens at His feet. He will guide your path. Have faith in His promises. Oh, and that faith…y’all that faith will conquer even the mightiest of mountains. You know how I know? Because Jesus said so! Yep, Matthew 17:20, ” ‘You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.’ ” Sister it is in Christ alone we have the most amazing promises! Those promises will never be broken, Nope! Our God will never fail!
Sister, reach a hold of those promises. Put aside that worry, those tears, those sleepless nights. Stop worrying about having the right outfit, the right hair, or the perfect answer, and just do it. Come just as you are, right into the arms our of Father. Let Him give you rest. And then, remember that’s not the end. No! Then, you declare that you have faith…no matter how small. Y’all muster that tiny peace of faith hiding deep within you. No matter how small it may be, you claim it! Then, you tell that mountain to move! Yell it! Tell it like you mean it! Muster up that last bit of sassy woman you have hiding deep down inside and tell that mountain, in the name of Jesus, it best get out of your way! The daughter of The King is coming through! So get out of the way! Then dear, sweet Sister, collapse into His loving arms and enjoy rest, because you have to gather the strength to watch those mountains move!
Now, I’m crawling back into this bed, in my mismatched jammies and sad pony tail tonight with joy in my heart. Our Father could care less that I am a mess as I rest to recover. No…He simply told me to come just as I am. Y’all I’m curling up in His loving care tonight. I pray that you will too.
*Oh, and do you have some stories about how you’ve experienced His call, His rest, and mountains that move? Well Sister, write to me about your story. I’ll have my coffee ready.
