I believe in God. I believe that He is the Creator of the universe, and that He spoke the planets into existence. I believe that He created Adam from dust, and Eve from the rib of Adam. I also believe that the Bible is the supernaturally inspired Word of God. That means, that while man penned the Bible, God told each man what to write. He spoke to those writers, and told them what to pass along to us. God used each man who wrote down His mighty words to ensure we would know His promises and commands. I believe in God! The question is, do I believe God?
There is a difference between believing in God and believing God. Believing in God puts Him up in heaven and separate from me. It’s like believing in Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy. I like the idea and the concept of the fairy tale, but I don’t truly see Him as a real person. God…He is real! He is my living Father! Believing Him means that I truly accept that He walks besides me every moment of every day. That He has a plan for my life, and that He is my Living Water for eternity.
Believing God, rather than simply believing in Him…that’s where the rubber meets the road. That’s where faith goes from an idea and becomes a reality. That’s where walking by faith turns into walking in faith. It’s where abundant living begins, and truly experiencing all God has for me comes along. My believing Him was a turning point in our relationship. It made Him more accessible to me, and made me seek Him in ways I had never before.
I always thought as long as I believed in God, I was walking in faith. The reality strikes me that until I began to truly believe God as my Father, as my Savior, and as my friend, I wasn’t truly seeing the enormity ofHis goodness. I believed He could perform miracles, but I didn’t expect He would. Once I moved from believing in Him to believing Him, my trust became greater, and my miracles more obvious, and the reality of Him being by my side truly sunk in.
What about you dear One? What does believing God rather than simply believing in God mean to you? Are you experiencing what God has for you to the fullest? Are you walking IN faith, or walking by faith?
Dear Lord, please show me the personal side of you. Please let me see that you are truly walking beside me, and sharing every moment of my life. Let me see the realness of you Father. Let me deepen my relationship with you by moving you from my God in heaven alone, to my God who is always with me. Let me learn to walk in faith, not just by faith, trusting you every step of the way.
