Shining through the darkness

Feeling frazzled, disappointed, rejected, overlooked, and sorrow filled? My friend Debra Paulk wrote in her joint devotional with Judy Bone, “Stir Up Some Sweet Life”, words that remind us of our God given job even in the most difficult times. Press into God! Fall into His loving promises, dig into His mighty Word, and TRUST Him!

As I walk through the dark, muddy valley of life right now, I find myself loosing my hope in a pit of quicksand and mud. That’s what happens when I try to do things under my own power. Oh…but when I stop fighting…stop trying to dig myself out of that sticky, mud filled pit of fear, hopeless, sorrow, hurt, disappointment, and frustration; it is when I hang on to God and let go of the world and the battles that consume me God reaches down from glory and lifts me from the mess devouring my soul. He dries me off, and sets my feet on solid ground.

It is then…in the presence of my Father who loves me beyond human understanding, that the Light of the World shines through the dark and scary density of the valley foliage and give me hope. That Light illuminates the path out of the darkness and leads me to where I can feel the warmth of His mighty love surrounding me. No longer do I need to fear, for in Him, I have all that I need.

It is then I am reminded “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” Philippians 4:4
