Revisited: Oh How He Loves Us

An awesome thing he will do with us.  Just ponder that for a second. The God of all creation first, thinks enough of me…enough of you, to create a covenant with us.  An agreement made by God with you and me.  Then, our God…as if he is not awesome enough in the fact that He wants to make an agreement with us, tells us to “see” the work He is about to do.  The God of all the universe, who simply spoke the planets into existence, desires to show us awesome things.  Better yet, He wants to do awesome things with us!  Get this, He loves us so much that He wants to hang out with us!

It gets even better!  He goes on in verse 14 to say, “for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”  He is jealous for us!  Don’t get this wrong now, He is not jealous of us.  God is jealous for us.  I took a moment to look up the dictionary definition of jealous.  “feeling resentment against someone because of that person’s rivalry, success, or advantages.”  Another definition says, “inclined to or troubled by suspicions or fears of rivalry, unfaithfulness, etc”  Now, wrap your noggin around this one.  Our God…the very God who created the heavens and the earth, who spoke the planets into existence, who created you and me in His image.  That God adores us to much that it makes Him resentful, and troubles Him greatly if or when we put another person before Him in our lives.  He desires to be our number 1.  Woah!  Forget all of the people in your life that you love more than life itself.  God wants to be ahead of all of them.  AND…if we don’t put Him there, He gets upset.  He feels a sense of rivalry, and is hurt because we are unfaithful to Him.

I don’t know about you, but I certainly don’t want to hurt the heart of God.  Yet, I do.  Every single day…I do.  When you think about the degree to which He loves us, doesn’t it hurt your heart to think you’re hurting His?  It sure does mine.  So, I have to remind myself how great God’s love is for me.  He created me.  Knit me together in my mother’s womb.  Made me who I am today, and like the father of a beautiful, special daughter, He desires to hold me close.  My earthly father never did that for me, but my Heavenly Father…He is crazy about me!  He’s crazy about you too!

Some days, I think about being a little girl, and the comfort I used to find curled up in my Gram’s lap if I was hurt or scared.  Then, I wish I could curl up in God’s lap.  I imagine how warm and snuggly it would be.  How he would gaze at me with love like no other.  If only he would rock me, stroke my hair, and sing me a lullaby.  You know what…if we focus on Him.  Truly concentrate on His love for us, and reciprocate with that kind of love for Him, He does just that which we desire.  He loves and cares for us.  He tells us it will be ok.  He fights for us!  All He asks is that we love him back!  I’m so blessed to be loved like that!  Our Father’s love is like no other.  I want to experience it more and more each and every day.  I pray that you will too.
